What architecture mean to me?
When I see an architecture that is isn't pleasing to the eye and uses very dull greys and browns, it make me feel like its not worth taking picture of as it doesn't hold the same aesthetics than buildings with modern architecture like those in Birmingham or London. Architecture that are more modern and aesthetically pleasing shows me that they have had more thought and work gone into them, as I have seen a lot of buildings in Leicester that are very uniformed and look identical to the next one.
Some architecure have much more value and past into them as may have survived through historic events like the war, so although they may be run down and broken they could still be very valuable to different people. Architecture also shows the architects thoughts and what they wanted to show in their building and what they intended to design and build so in a sense architecture shows us somebody's vision. Some buildings hold more value to me than other buildings for example the temple will hold more value to me even thought its not always the most prettiest to look at as it is my place of worship. Therefore for me its not always about the appearance of an architecture but more so the value that it holds.
However if I'm walking down the street I know that I will stop to look at modern and more beautiful looking buildings rather than looking at uniformed terrace houses. There are a lot of buildings in Leicester that are very futuristic and artistic, for example buildings like 'John Lewis' and 'The Curve'. I like the look of John Lewis as not only is it made of a large glass with abstract curves, it also lights up at night to give it a purple glow which can make it look even more attractive especially for tourists.
So although for me it does not matter about its appearance but rather its value as one of the architecture that I value a lot is my own house and although it is a terrace and doesn't look the prettiest in Leicester it is the building that I value the most.
