This picture was taken in a moving car which means that I couldn’t adjust my camera however I am happy with how it turned out to be. First of all, the sun, as you can see is very bright and has left a blinding white blur on the side of the frame which shows just how hot it was that day showing a small story of my journey. One thing I like about this photo is that the top half of the photo is a deep blue and the lower half is a rich green which blends into a black towards the bottom therefore these look like layers. Also the Portuguese flag that is blindly swaying in the wind, allows not only for us to see the motion of the flag but it also lets us see that mirroring the flag is the sense of freedom. The cloudless blue sky and the vibrant orange looking flag works well together as they are complimentary colours, this was purely coincidence. Also as I was taking the photo from a car, it shows a parent child perspective as we are looking up to the flags which shows us its significance and the respect that is payed from the audience to the flag without even realising we are doing so.
This photo was taken inside a train station, therefore it doesn’t seem to interesting but I personally found this photo to be very fascinating. First of all, I could really appreciate the intricate design laid on the rood and although there was no colours to make it too interesting, I thought that the deign was good enough to make it very interesting. The squares and the triangles that follow through the whole frame with the light coming through it makes it very beautiful. Also in this dark station the 2 red crosses really stand out and make the audience look at that straight away. Also the use of leading lines means that we follow this until we can see light which could reference to the common used phrase ‘light at the end of the tunnel’. Although initially I worried that this image was overall very dark as there was limited lighting, I am happy with how this worked out as the darkness plays a good part on the photo. The only two colours. apart from the black, is the reds and the green writing at the back which are both complimentary colours and this was a pure coincidence.
I took this photo after climbing a large mountain and losing back on it I can see that perhaps it was too exposed as right at the back we can just see white. This photo when looking at it in the beginning, we can see straight away that it is very natural as the colours are very earthy colours with greens and browns. What I especially like about this photo is that right in the centre of the frame the trees have been bent in such a way that it makes it look like a doorway which makes it look almost fairytale like. Creating an almost leading line affect as our eyes follow the trees until we see the landscape. The central part of the frame is what is different to everything else in the photo so we focus on that instantly.I also like how at the front of my frame it is very dark as the trees have shadowed it away from the sunlight however as you continue to look ahead at the photo it gets much lighter. We can see a clear use of shadows here as there are a lot of trees, towards the left side of the photo we can see how the trees have broken the sunlight to also create a pattern.
I took this photo after I had climbed a hill which means that we can see landscape which looks like a layer of urban architecture and the rural countryside with luscious green grass. The two trees standing either side of the frame makes what would otherwise be a boring photo much more creative and interesting. Also the two colours from the sky and the green landscape compliment each other very well as both colours mean peace and stability which this photo represents. I also like the houses dotted around the whole frame as it adds a different colour to the green and the blue. I found this image to be overall peaceful and unlike the other busy photos this one is stripped back and shows a complete different side of Lisbon then we know as it is not of the beautiful architecture or the beaches but intact a much rural and natural unseen side of Portugal that is situated in the heart of the capital city.
To me this photo is very colourful and very busy in what is going on. The contradiction between the flowers which show a sense of nature and peace to the bike which is of a bloody red and shows the opposite side- a man made item with stands alongside the flowers. I found this to be confusing yet very different this is why I deliberately put this photo directly in the centre to attract the instant attraction. Alongside the rich red from the bike, the deep blue from the sky also sits comfortably with the bike. The grand architecture at the back adds an elegant yet complex idea to this photo which makes it much more exciting and can again show creativity yet in a much more simple way. On top of this, the emerald green from the trees and the bushes show two different shades of the same colour. The diagonal from the bike adds a sense of dimension to the otherwise flat photo. To improve I could have taken this photo from a lower angle so that we could look up to the bike which adds an element of parent child perspective, however I took this photo from the bus so I was unable to do so however I tried slightly to make it like that but it could be improved.
This is one of my favourite photos mainly because of the two colours; the deep blue and the foamy white from the ocean marry each other perfectly to create in unison, a colour of peace and stability. The white streaks of water that is swirled amongst the deep blue of the atlantic sea makes it look as though we are mixing two colours of paint. In the right side of the image, the sunlight directly hits the ocean and we can see that it reflects back which makes it much more interesting. The rocks, in the centre of the frame is surrounded by the white swirls from the water and are colliding with the rocks then retreating back. It can be seen that all the water are revolve around the rocks. On the right we can see a green with a hint of yellow on the tip, shrub which shows a contrast to the left side of the frame which is a dry, un-flourished land. The contrasts of the two colours can be seen straight away and underneath this we see a pool of deep blue. On the ground we can see the waves cascading on to the rocks and then retreating back into the oceans. The black from the rocks and the white from the waves act as a juxtapositions as they are colours that are complete opposite in the spectrum.
This is the edited version of a very similar photo that I took, here I made the right side of the water a more green colour however the left side is still blue and I did this to add different shades. The shrubs here look much more of yellow and orange tone rather than the usual green which I tired to do to make it look different, I overall prefer this photo to the old one. However looking back at it I think it looks too edited and perhaps slightly unreal.
