How was street photography for me?
Personally for me, I found it very intimidating to go and talk to people who I had never seen and this is solely because I am naturally not very confident and the idea of interacting with strangers was very difficult for me. Whereas for other people in my class they had a natural gift of being able to talk to anyone and asking them for pictures. Therefore I had to lookout for people willing to take pictures and take pictures of people who had been asked by the other people in my class. However this allowed of me to take pictures of buildings and the environment rather than just people for example I took pictures of the buildings in Melton Road as they were all very colorful and I also took pictures of people who were quiet a distance away from me trying to catch them doing their daily routines for example people on the bikes or people buying food. For example we walked past a garage which was open and we could see the mechanics working away and the whole shop was covered in equipment and tools which added an element of excitement as there was no empty space. By using depth of field we could show how busy the background was by putting the man in focus and blurring everything in the back out. As the background itself was very dark due to minimum light available we had to use a aperture of f/1.4 so the lens was large enough to let a lot of light in to make the picture overall more brighter. Street photography is also about capturing funny moments that can make the audience laugh or also creating images that look very weird and can make us feel uncomfortable.I saw a man who was carrying a lot of shopping bags and was clearly struggling however he was on the other side of the street therefore it wasn't as effective as if he was closer. As a photographer we can use representation so we can show the audience what we want to show them so we have full control over the image .
